The goal of Ex Fundamentals for Mechanical Personnel

After completing the course, the participants will have acquired safety-related knowledge of potentially explosive areas, so that they can carry out their work in a responsible manner. They will have been familiar with methods for inspection and maintenance, as well as become familiar with the safety aspects to be able to choose and install equipment, so that explosion safety is safeguarded.

The target group of Ex Fundamentals for Mechanical Personnel

Mechanical and other personnel working in hazardous areas in Europe. The course applies to personnel working in onshore faciities, offshore and vessels.

The course is based on the EN ISO 80079-36, EN ISO 80079-37, EN 1127-1, EN IEC 60079-14, EN IEC 60079-17, ATEX Directives.

For the participant to be considered sufficiently qualified to work independently with mechanical installations in hazardous areas, he or she must be able to document practical training in addition to this theoretical training. The practical training can, for example, be carried out in your own company.

Regulations

For Norwegian market the following rules and regulation will apply.

The Norwegian Maritime Directorate, DSB and Norwegian Oil and Gas refer to NFEA EX-COMP: 2021 guidelines for training of personnel performing work in the Ex-areas. Ex-competence should be updated at least every 5 years.

The rules and regulation for other countries will be similar with national adjustment.
